Homemade chalk paint and birds and branches chest

Ok I know there are tons of dressers and furniture out there with birds on them..But I really adore them and I wanted to do it on this cute little chest I picked up for practically nothing on CL..I don't have any before photos of it, other than after I had already started painting it with the drawers out..But this is how it turned out, I do also want to distress it just a little bit, but not too much, I painted it with homemade chalk paint in a SW creamy white, and sealed it with a clear wax..I left most of the little marks and dings on the dresser because I think it shows the life and maybe love this dresser had all through its life, it shows its Character.. I'm not sure how old the dresser is, but I know its old..Also all the locks on the drawers work too, I have a skeleton key to my old curio cabinet and it fits it perfectly..
Although I've refinished and painted furniture for years and years to decorate my home, i'm new at this blog thing and really don't know where to start..I have sold some of my furniture through the years, but haven't really made a business out of it..And like I said in my profile, my husband finally relented and told me that I could continue with my obsession of picking up and collecting old furniture, as long as when I brought a new piece in and couldn't find a place for it, he wants me to sell it..:o) I agreed! But I had my fingers crossed behind my back..:o)
I will continue to look at other blogs and try to learn how to do the linky parties, if anyone has suggestions please feel free to tell me...I don't mind being told what to do..Really!

  2. I found this featured on Miss Mustard Seed's blog....love birds, etc, and it looks like you did a nice job. But do you have a tutorial? How did you put the branch and birds on it?

    1. Hi Sharon, Thank you! I don't have a tutorial, but I can make one, maybe I can do a post about that..I'm new to blogging so I have no idea what i'm doing, but I think that would be a terrific post..I usually paint on canvas, but through the years I have also painted on other things, like this chest, and I've always used acrylic paints, just simple acrylic craft paint..I just free handed the branch and birds on it with a watercolor pencil, then just filled in the drawing with acrylic paint, it was really simple to do, after the paint dried, I just used a clear wax to seal it..:o)
